While I might call this an “indulgence bowl” because of its rich, delicious flavor, it’s actually full of good nutrients sure to leave you feeling illuminated rather than ill. This recipe makes for a great end-of-week celebration breakfast (or tasty dessert).
The Recipe
To Blend:
- 1/2 banana
- 1 frozen unsweetened acai packet
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 date, pitted
- 1/2 cup almond milk
To Top:
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- Sprinkle of cacao powder
- 1 date, cut into pieces
- 1 tsp cacao nibs
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp hemp seeds
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- Drizzle of honey
Why It’s Good:
- Cacao is derived from the Cacao tree. Think of it as the less sweet, more bitter, healthier cousin of cocoa.
- Cacao is high in flavonoids, which have been shown to decrease blood pressure, improve blood flow to the brain and heart, and decrease your risk of developing blood clots
- Additionally, the flavonoids found in cacao may help increase insulin sensitivity, decreasing your risk of diabetes
Blend the blendables and top with toppings. This rich bowl may look like dessert but is actually very nourishing. Try it out for yourself and see the many benefits of cacao powder.
