Smoothie Saturday: Cranberry Bowl

Had some leftover fresh cranberries in my kitchen so thought I would try them in a smoothie. Packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, cranberries really are a superfood. Turns out they make a great smoothie ingredient as well!

The Recipe

To Blend:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries (if you want to dilute the cranberry flavor)
  • 1 scoop Orgain Organic Protein Powder, Vanilla

To Top:

  • 1 tsp coconut flakes
  • 1 tbsp almonds
  • 1 tbsp dried cranberries
  • 1/4 sliced banana
  • 1/4 cup blueberries

Why It’s Good:

  • Cranberries are packed with antioxidants and Vitamin C. There is evidence to suggest that the nutrients found in cranberries can help lower the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and certain kinds of cancers, improve immune system function, and lower blood pressure. Not bad for a little berry!

Blend the blendables and top with toppings. What a great recipe to throw together using the leftover cranberries from a big holiday dinner!
