Smoothie Saturday: Late Summer Berry Oatmeal

Late Summer Berry Oatmeal

This tasty, hearty breakfast is sure to brighten your morning while also fueling you for whatever you get up to today. The protein powder in the oats also makes it extra thick and creamy.

The Recipe

In the Oatmeal:

  • 1/2 cup Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop Orgain Organic Plant-Based Protein Power in vanilla (or your favorite protein powder)
  • 1/3 cup almond milk

Mix the ingredients together and microwave for 90 seconds. When they come out, add a splash more almond milk and a dash of cinnamon. Stir to combine.

Toppings:

  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup strawberries
  • 6 raspberries
  • 1 tsp Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter

Why It’s Good:

  • Oatmeal makes a great breakfast because it provides fiber and a serving of whole grains.
  • This bowl has plenty of protein between the protein powder and peanut butter.
  • Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are packed with antioxidants.
  • Using foods that are in season is both delicious and environmentally conscious. Stop by your local farmers market to pick up some tasty treats from local farmers.

Make the oatmeal as instructed above and top with toppings. This tasty take on a classic celebrates some of the great berries in season in summer. In addition, the thick oatmeal starter makes a great base you can top with whatever you may have on hand.
